San Francisco (March 23, 2009): Stomping into San Francisco’s historic Castro Theatre this summer, Japanese Monster Film Festival in San Francisco Celebrates the Man Who Played Godzilla on August 21-23, 2009.

San Francisco (March 23, 2009): Stomping into San Francisco’s historic Castro Theatre this summer, GODZILLA & THE MONSTERS OF MASS DESTRUCTION, is a weekend celebration of Japan’s monster cinema, featuring ten classic films, presented in glorious 35mm, from the producers of the annual SHOCK IT TO ME! Horror Film Festival. Our special guest will be in the man in the Godzilla suit himself, Haruo Nakajima.

Starting his film career in the late 1940s, Mr. Nakajima appeared as one of the bandits in Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai (1954). After volunteering for the first Japanese fire stunt in the war film Eagle of the Pacific (1953), the team making Godzilla (1954) knew that he was the man for the job. From 1954 through 1972, Mr. Nakajima played Godzilla and various monsters on screen and television.

Mr. Nakajima will be in attendance throughout the weekend to meet with fans and sign autographs in the Castro Theatre’s 200-capacity Mezzanine. He will also take to the stage to speak about his first-hand experiences in making these films, during our evening screenings. This is Mr. Nakajima’s first-ever visit to San Francisco.

Japanese film historian and author, August Ragone (Eiji Tsuburaya: Master of Monsters, Chronicle Books), who is organizing the event, will be on hand to illustrate how the visual effects for the films were achieved. The San Francisco native will also sign copies of his book all weekend.

All ten of the films screened during GODZILLA & THE MONSTERS OF MASS DESTRUCTION will be presented in five double features. All films are 35mm and projected on the Castro’s gigantic screen—the last large single-screen theater in San Francisco.

Tickets for all of the screenings will be available at the Castro Theatre box office or through http://ticketweb.com. Prices for each Double Feature are only $10.00 (Adults) and $7.00 (Children/Seniors). A special Event Pass will also be made available to the public in the near future.

A different direction from what we've seen in the past, the paint as always is immaculate. I would like to believe Anraku has some mythology behind the creature. It reminds me of Japan's Yokai Monsters.

Toygraph's hot line of figures simply called Space Troopers has been on everyone's wish list lately.
Just released not too long ago was Space Troopers Platoon 1. This time the troopers come in a set of five and have a Captain, and his comrades. Bagged and no can this time around. All five inches tall, the captain comes with his trusty laser gun and head glows in the dark. The others are equipped with big guns, spear or sword, and chainsaw... my favorite. Troopers also have remove-able helmets and oxygen tanks. These figures are great in that they channel the old Sci-Fi films of yesteryear. Planet of the Vampires comes to my mind.

Wedding Daze with Alien Xam

Yesterday I had a received a very cool wedding gift from Mark Nagata (Max Toy) A custom painted Alien Xam puppet figure. Me being a big fan of Marks custom painting and the Alien Xam figures I was overjoyed. I remember when I first started getting into collecting Japanese toys Mark was happy to answer my infinite questions on kaiju toys. Thanks Mark! Acclaimed Melbourne artist Martin Harris has granted The Lost Kaiju with a first look at one of his paintings for the upcoming Gallery show simply called The Kaiju Monster Invasion. The show will be taking place at the Harold Golen Gallery in Florida opening December 3, 2008. A handful of talented artists will be showing their recent creations of Kaiju mayhem with the likes of Mark Nagata, Jim Woodring, Dream Rocket and of course Martin Harris!

ELEKING and ME or US TOYS Giant Eleking

US Toys Giant Eleking. Limited to 50 pieces and stands just over fifteen inches tall. This is one amazing piece of work. The paint job is immaculate. The figure had come with an oversized backing card and wrapped up nicely with colored strings. Eleking's tail is super long and has ton of articulation which may make him a shelf hog but he's well worth it! The eyelits even rotate. The two other Jumbo sized US Toys figures are the Kanegon's. One standard colored and the other glow. I may be able to score the glow version soon, with a little luck. US Toys a Japanese based company has really become one of most sought after pieces with most toy collectors. Looking for something to do this Labor Day weekend? Look no further then the gallery show of SUPERDOG underdog featuring comic heavyweights Alex Wald and Gene Ha. The show is in the heart of Lincoln Park in Chicago, at the Diane Tanios Gallery.
I'm ready to head out to Minneapolis and had to see this show before the doors closed. The highlights for me were of course Alex Wald and his science fiction madness plus Ultra Monsters, but don't forget the giant kaiju on the wall, your even invited to write around the artwork.(My kind of show) Another favorite of mine is Gene Ha sketches of DC's Batman and Marvel's X-Men. Tony Atkins is also shown with his amazing panels from Star Wars and Aliens pieces. I also picked up a fun zine/comic from Jeff Zwirek about a family and their ADD son. Next time I'll be sure to come opening night. One of my favorite shows of the year. Come out and support these fine hometown artists!

The Lost Kaiju presents MG5 in collaboration with Zollmen. The Glow version of MG5. Only 30 pieces made and happily distributed this time for a US release. The header card has MG5 releasing torpedoes from his nipples, their is also a fake lever on his back for the action but does not actually work. I really like the Frankenberry color on this one. It's the tits!

Yutari Gaimos from the 2002 UltraSeven series. Yutari Japan Most of the figures are limited in quanity and the quality of the Gaimos is exceptional.
Brilliant paint job. Gaimos head and waist are move-able, which the giant vein or tail? seems to move with the two joints.

CCP SADORA (Masaaki Satake Monsters Collection)

I just scored the CCP Sadora Monster from the Ultra Series Return of Ultraman also known as Ultraman Jack. It came from the vault of the great Alex Wald. The Monster is similar to a garage kit due to the amazing accuracy of the costume. It has several holes around the neck so as the actor portraying Sadora was able to breath in the outfit. It also has what looks to be a zipper on the back of the creature. Beautiful piece comes from the company CCP the Satake Collection.

Happy May Day

Today is May 1st and it is May Day. There are many people who celebrate May Day in all types of fashions, whether it be practicing Wicca, planting flowers or howling at the moon and dancing around fires.
Jess and I usually celebrate yearly by sitting down at watching one of my favorite films. The original Wicker Man with Christopher Lee... not the bastardized version with Nick Cage. I won't spoil it for you but the ending is a shocker, plus the soundtrack is pretty groovy, it also has a cult following with it's mix of folk and acid fusion. Anchor Bay had come out with a great collectors edition, I know.. I know.. they seem to have several collectors editions. This version comes with the uncut and the US version of the film. If that's not all it comes it a great wooden box that has an etched design of the Wicker Man. Very Cool! Happy May Day to all..

I just received the Yamanaya Ultraman Noa figure holding a glow in the dark orb. I believe it was from the episode where the Science Patrol team come across Antlar and the statue of the Ultra God Noa.
The figure came from ChibiGoji toys, a fantastic website filled with kaiju of all kinds with the likes of Godzilla, Ultraman, Mirroman etc. The toys that are featured are M1-Go, Marusan and Bear Model figures.

Red,orange vinyl of the Burning Godzilla 95. The figure was created by CCP/Plex and stands roughly around nine inches tall. It lights up when touched or shaken giving the look that Godzilla is ready to proceed to meltdown. An added bonus was given with each CCP order was a mini red Hedorah figure. The nomination was to his brilliant work on the book Shaolin Cowboy #7. Alex Wald is an artist, writer and avid Japanese toy collector. Marmit Godzilla 73 from the Wonderfest of Japan 2008. This is the black/green vinyl with looks to be like glitter inside? Standard size. Godzilla 73 is the version I had known and loved as a kid from Saturday afternoon TV and Svengoolie here in Chicago.

Toygraph has been releasing some impressive Godzilla figures lately. The pieces are being sold via the Japanese store Mandarake. I was able to score a few of the fun, original looking toys. The figure was released last week and is dubbed the Osaka version. The mold seems to be the same as the earlier figures that came with the diver with destroyer bomb. These new figures of course have the damsel in distress, which takes me back to the old Universal movies like Creature from the Black Lagoon and King Kong. In the month of April Toygraph will be releasing the Godzilla crunching down on the train, which has become popular with the American version of 54 Godzilla.

Rotofugi and the Clap Monsters

Rotofugi a Chicago based toy store, is now selling some great Kaiju-Inspired Toys.
They recently added a Kaiju section to their store, which is great for folks like me who can't enough of monsters. I'll be visiting way more often because of this.

They recently released Zaran from Clap Monsters. This would be the second version of the monster. The first sold out almost immediately at the opening of their ToyKarma show. Zaran the first version reminded me of a vintage Marusan figure. The production number was also very low.

The figure is around twelve inches tall and has a very clumsy shape about him, which gives the monster a lot of character. The color-way(yellow,red,blue) is beautiful and has to be seen in person to truly admire the work. If the first version looked like a vintage kaiju than the second version would be it's Zombie brother. The eye's on the second version looks of a dead fish with the mouth dripping of red from feeding on something or someone? Clap Monsters is a small company from Japan which is working exclusively with Rotofugi. The Zaran second version has a relatively low production number. I would recommend purchasing one if you get the chance to do so. Zaran seems to fit right at home with the fellows from Longneck.

Jermy was the one who presented me with my figure. He's been showing some of his brilliant work on the skullbrain forums and I hope to see his figures evolve onto the retail shelves in the near future.

Marmit Black End (Featured collectible of the month)

Marmit Black-End will be our featured collectible of the month. This is one crazy figure! He reminds me of a dragon inside a giant grapefruit with dangerous spikes throughout the body. In the episode the spikes retract and extract from him. Amazing sculpt design and the paint job is immaculate, one of the best Marmit figures to come out this year. Tail and feet are move-able. Black-End was a Ultraman Leo kaiju. He was the season finale monster, also Black-End has never been issued by any other company before except Marmit. It would fit well with a Marmit Darkron figure.

First anniversary Exohead memory Prize

Garimpo Exohead Grodnoid (Enemy of Man-Machine)
One of the coolest figures to come out this fall was the Garimpo Exohead Grodnoid.
Standing at seven inches tall, the Grodnoid comes with an extra arm attachment that looks like a spiky mace. The color-way is a burnt yellowish orange within clear vinyl.
The head of Grodnoid is two faced skull figure with women's legs protruding from it. If that's not all the orifices seem to be filled with anal plugs?

I was offered a Lotto-Prize piece by my good friend/buyer from Japan. It is called the First anniversary Exohead memory prize. Type A These were never for sale anywhere and only five were made worldwide. The only US person I know who has one is the custom toy painter Paul Kaiju.

The prize comes with an extra head for the Man-Machine and a little black monster waving it's hands in the air. (Very cool!) The prize head color-way is done differently and comes with a fiery red and yellow color, solid vinyl not clear like the standard.
The anal plugs stand out a little more because of this. A wonderfully demented piece of work. Another great figure from Exohead!

M1-Go Koriyama Ultraman Vs Baltan Set

From the Koriyama City of Museum Art comes this fantastic set by M1-Go.
One of my favorite pieces from M1-Go. The set comes with a clear Ultraman and Baltan that is made of see-through vinyl and stuffed with what looks like colored pipe cleaners! I've seen some vintage Bullmark figures done in this manner.
The set is limited to 100 pieces, and if you were lucky enough to be at the museum on July 14 you could have met up with Toshihiro Iizima director of the Ultra episodes, Susumu Kurobe (Hayata) and Hiroko Sakurai (Akiko Fuji) all from the original Ultraman TV show.
The set comes with a green wooden base autographed by all three stars! A brochure of the exhibition was also included.

M1-Go Vira Seijin

M1-Go Vira Seijin an UltraSeven Foe. I recently acquired this figure from one of my favorite toy companies M1-Go. There are several variations of this figure which include some glow and a gold lottery version. I believe it was initially released as a lucky bag and then reintroduced as part of the Battle Royal set from M1.
Pictured here is the orange version. Vira Seijin's head amazingly rotates, as well as his legs and at the base. To me Vira Seijin resembles a happy face-hugger from the Alien movies. But remember these shows pre-dated the Alien movies, which goes to prove that these Ultrashows were way ahead of their time. The M1 Vira Seijin is around eight-nine inches tall, standard size. Again a thank-you to Martin for his contributions of Shonen Weekly!

Comics and The Silver Surfer

Jess and I visited the Wolf Flea Market today. It's right off I 90-94 in the AllState Arena(formerly Rosemont Horizon) parking lot in Chicago.
Sadly it was the last weekend of the market till April 2008. I have been coming on and off throughout the last couple of months. There are plenty of odd treasures to be found. I was actually contemplating on purchasing a Colombo Detective Board Game. For me the real deals were in these comic book vendors. I have found old back issues of the Amazing Spider-Man where he discovers his cosmic powers and other issues such as Stan Lee/Jack Kirby Silver Surfer, X-men etc. all for $1.00 The stories seem to be much better way back when. The larger city comic stores have these but for a hefty price.
On our way out I came across a Silver Surfer Toy. It was pretty dirty but had some charm. The Surfer came with his trademark Surfboard which his feet could slide in (Snowboarding?) The lady screamed two dollars, I.. of course not hearing her well said one dollar? Sold!! The figure almost looks like a bad silver Oscar, but it's well articulated and has happily found a place among many of my Japanese monsters and heroes. Made by Toybiz 1994

October Halloween Movies

One of my favorite days of the year is October 31st Halloween. As a kid I would decorate the outside of our house with grotesque beings and add some eerie music to scare the trick or treaters.

My favorite pastimes is also collecting horror posters, lobby cards etc. I'm especially
into most of the Hammer Horror films of the sixties and seventies, as well as the Amicus movies. I'm getting ready to pull out my collection of dvds and watch them over this month. In Touch with ToyKarma

Rotofugi's ToyKarma show is already here and will be opening it's doors this Saturday September 8 in Chicago on Chicago Avenue. I met up with Carlos Enriquez one of the many big talents presenting works at the gallery. He introduced me to Mark Nagata curator of ToyKarma. This show looks to be one of the biggest and first of it's kind I believe. A lot of the figures have already sold out on Rotofugi's preview list. Kirby and Whitney did a great job handling the masses as they drove the server to meltdown. Congratulations on the folks who were lucky enough to get some of the great figures, Their are sure to be more on opening day!

Our featured artist will be Carlos Enriquez. This very talented artist has sculpted many familiar kaiju that has to be seen to believe. Carving out figures from wood he then uses fiberglass to bring to life his creations. You can see he has been inspired by tokusatsu shows such as Barom 1 or Matango. One of Carlos's many interests are Quantum Physics. He will be at Toy Karma in Chicago on Setember 8 with many other talents including Mark Nagata, Bob Conge, Ralph Cosentino, and Steve Forde. The Lost Kaiju has some new figures in stock now! CCP Spectreman C type. (weathered version)
These were limited to only 300 pieces. A highly detailed figure of Spectreman in the latter episodes as the suit took some real beatings. From the brilliant Japanese toy company Amapro comes Kira. Kira is limited to 100 figures and is purple vinyl.

One of my personal favorites this month is Liberty Planet's Seabozu (Glow version) The like-able depressed Kaiju from the Ultraman epidsode Grave of the Monsters. Even comes with a glow and the dark rock! Come over to the store and check out the great figures.

Subcasts Marvel

I was just introduced to Subcasts line of Marvel toys through myspace. Being a comic book reader and fan of Marvel, these figures look very impressive! I'm very anxious to see them hit the assembly line. The designs are by miO Willmott and the studio Tweeqim. Produced by Upper Deck. Spidey is set to be released at SDCC with only 100 pieces and again for the initial release this fall to 2000. Ghost Rider and Iron Man may also be released sometime in the late season. The Prototype Iron Man is my favorite.

Gas Bawer ( Mousou Kaijyu Series)

I recently acquired a figure called Gas Bawer from the company Longneck. It's one of my favorite pieces of the summer.
They come in many versions. I have the strawberry version (no cream) and the Mt fuji version. A friend from Japan helped me with the harder to find Fuji piece. The vinyl is soft to the touch (squishy) and has a great vinyl smell. I've heard it may be the same maker of the Bemons. They have yet to reach Bemon status but a fantastic odd little creature nonetheless.

Monster Master from myspace has provided The Lost Kaiju with upcoming information on G-Fest XIV (Godzilla Festival) here's the scoop

North American Godzilla fans will be gathering July 6-8, 2007 at the Crowne Plaza O..'Hare International in Rosemont, IL for G-FEST XIV. The special guests for G-FEST XIV are actor Rhodes Reason, the star of King Kong Escapes (1967), actress Shelley Sweeney, who appeared in five Godzilla films beginning with Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla (1993), and actor Robert Scott Field of Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah (1991). Also, genre writer and producer Don Glut and Carl Craig will also be attending.

G-FEST XIV will be screening King Kong Escapes and King Kong vs. Godzilla (1963) and special surprise features at the Pickwick Theater in nearby Park Ridge, Illinois. The fest will also have a giant dealers room, model instruction, video room, Godzilla Jeopardy Tournament, costume parade & contest, art contest, video contest, Godzilla Save the Earth video game tournament and special activities for kids and more.

Weekend admission tickets are $29.00 for adults, $10 for youth (12 and under). Daily admission (at the door) is $20.00 for adults, $5.00 for youths. Children 5 and under are admitted FREE.

Project Ultraman No more?

Our friend Dhiti Chantravekin informed the Lost Kaiju that Tsuburaya Chaiyo may no longer be airing the much anticipated series Project Ultraman. Here's the scoop.

Tsuburaya Chaiyo has lost a court battle with Tsuburaya Productions in the Thai Intellectual Property Court which rules that all new Tsuburaya Chaiyo's designed Ultramans, i.e. Ultraman Millennium, Ultraman Elite and Dark Ultraman, are considered a copyright violation. Therefore, there is a slim chance that Project Ultraman will be put on air. Tsuburaya Chaiyo didn't expect this outcome, and was badly prepared to cope with the situation. Compromise between the two companies is unlikely.

New Spectreman figures

CCP has announced the release of two new Spectreman figures. It is from the Special effects 1/6 series Vol 4. The two figures will be twelve inches in height and differ in color variation. Spectreman B type will have the typical gold and brown armor and the C type will have the dirty weathered appearance and clenched fists from the latter episodes. I'm greatly looking forward to these pieces, the output of Spectreman figures has been improving as we have seen with the company Inspire and CCP.

Garuda

Our friend Dhiti Chantravekin provided The Lost Kaiju with a history of the mythical creature Garuda and a review of the 2004 Thai film of the same name. Here's the scoop.

Garuda is a movie picture produced by a Thai Production House named RS Film. It was shown in theaters in 2004 and was greeted with a widely accepted Thai audience, since it is the first ever made Thai Sci-Fi movie that can meet the world class standard. The computer graphic is superb, the storyline, the plot, the thrill, the cast are great. No wonder why its DVDs are sold to Sci-Fi fans worldwide.
Garuda or “Krutha” in Thai word is a large mythical bird or bird-like creature that exists in both Hindu and Buddhist mythology. Its sculptures can be seen on the rooftop of a Buddhist temple. In addition to that it’s a national symbol of Thailand representing the King. Legend has it that long time ago Garuda had a quarrel with Naka, a mystical giant snake in Hindu and Buddhist mythology. Naka could not fight Garuda, so he asked for help from a Hindu God, Vishnu. Both Vishnu and Garuda fought for days with no winner. So finally Garuda and Vishnu made an agreement that Garuda would serve Vishnu as his mounting animal during his travel. And that’s why there are pictures and sculptures of Vishnu riding on Garuda's back at all Buddhist temples.
The movie, however, has little to do with Garuda in the legend, because Garuda in the movie is a giant bird-like monster roaming the earth 80,000 years ago. During the construction of an underground tunnel phase II for Bangkok subway. A small fossil of Garuda was found, so Leena Pierre, a young and beautiful half French half Thai archaeologist with a promising future, and her friend Tim were called in to study the remain. They were accompanied by a special elite force to go into the tunnel. There, they discovered a secret cave where the giant Garuda was in hibernation for 80,000 years. Their intrusion into the cave has awaken Garuda and it went on rampage killing many members of the elite force. As a scientist, Leena wanted to save Garuda as it is a living evidence of an ancient animal, so she came into conflict with Tan, leader of the team, who wanted to stop the creature from going to the surface and killing innocent people. Can the powerful Garuda be stopped? What the story will end? Well, you have to watch the movie to find out.

Dead or Alive (DOA)

The movie stars Jamie Pressly (My name is Earl) as Rachel and Devon Aoki(Sin City) as Ayane. The DOA girls are invited to a island (sound familiar?)(Enter the Dragon) to a invitational martial arts contest. Fighters are then pitted against one another in a knock-out style tournament, with the loser of a battle sent home, and the winner progressing to the next round. The DOA girls begin as rivals, but subsequently find themselves teaming up against evil doers. Directed by Cory Yuen (Transporter). Hukkokudo Original 1970s Replica Version Zagora

In stock is the now elusive Hukkokudo 1970s Replica Version of the Zagora. The Hukkokudo Zagora stands at eleven inches tall, larger than the Gargamel version. Zagora is a special mail order piece. Taken from the original mold from Daikyo. The Lost Kaiju also had a neon green version which sold out immediately. I was lucky enough to get one for myself. Please check back for more Zagora updates. Soon to be released is the green/yellow version, similar to a classic Bullmark color scheme. :)

Highlander Search for Vengeance

The Lost Kaiju will be adding the new anime Highlander Search for Vengeance. To be released on June 5. It is from the creators Kawajiri (Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust, Ninja Scroll) and Madhouse. The movie will also have an integration of CG as in the last feature. Their is no Duncan or Connor in Search for Vengeance, but a new Macleod by the name of Colin. David Abramowitz has written the story. You may know him from scripting Highlander tv show. I've always been a big Highlander fan. Can't wait to see this!

Fight for the Flavor

Heavy.com is teaming up with Kaiju Big Battle to produce some offbeat online videos with Doritos called Fight for the Flavor. The videos blend Godzilla, pro wrestling, and will make you spew with laughter; basically, Kaiju Big Battle created life-sized new flavors of Doritos...the Doritos battle each other in underground cage-match settings. Only one will survive...and Doritos will no longer produce the other flavor!

The videos can be found here on Heavy.com, they're each 2-3 minute episodes in a series. If you can't enjoy adults fighting in wacky rubber suits....well, it’s all relative.

Gogamejira

I just received the new Gogamejira (Gogamezilla) from Anrakuansaku. This new version is clear green with with organs. The Gogamejiras are insanely popular in Japan right now and are becoming more well known here in the states among kaiju fans. You would be lucky to find one.. if so, don't hesitate! Everyone should have a Goga in their collection. The production numbers on the Gogamejira's are low. I've seen some on ebay and they tend to go for the higher price points.

Back in stock now is the Evil Ultraman Tiga from Banpresto. A brilliant posed figure. We also have the new gosho doll (ningyo project) by Dalek. Only five hundred pieces made. It is Dalek's take on the traditional Japanese Gosho doll which has many symbolic meanings.

Coming in late May/June is the Akiko Fuji figure by the company Fewture, and some classic Bandai figures with tags. One of these figures will be the Ultraman foe Dada. And one more for the road will be the Hukkokudo Zagoras. Original spray version and fluorescent green. For our dvd section we will be adding a few more greats. Media Blasters Frankenstein conquers the world and cyberpunk masterpiece Pinocchio 964.

ISUZU ALL STAR HERO FESTIVAL 2007 in Bangkok
The show was not as crowded as I had expected, and I would rather call it a display than a show. Why? Because I didn’t see any people in Ultraman suits on the stage. Instead, what I saw are live-size Ultraman figures made from fiberglass put on displays. Not so many people attended the show, maybe because it’s Sunday evening. Nevertheless, I am glad that I was at the show to get the first glimpse of “Project Ultraman”, the new Ultraman TV series made by a Thai Production House named “Chaiyo Productions”. From what I saw on the VCR, the movie is quite good and is on par with the new Japanese Ultraman series. Chaiyo Productions has put a lot of effort in making this movie which were taken in great locations like a Tibetan temple and plateau and the Gobi desert. As with the modern Ultraman series, this movie has a lot of Computer Graphic, but Chaiyo has done a good job on this. The series features Ultraman Elite (portrayed by the famous Hong Kong actor “Ekin Cheng” from “The Storm Riders” movie http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ekin_Cheng ), Ultraman Millennium and Dark Ultraman. All are designed by Chaiyo Productions, however, unlike Tiga, Dyna, Cosmos and Gaia, the Thai Ultraman are still based on the M78 nebula, so you will also see Ultra Mother and other Ultraman in this series as well.

Project Ultraman

Our friend Dhiti Chantravekin provided The Lost Kaiju with info on the upcoming show Project Ultraman. Here's the scoop:

Project Ultraman is a new TV series made by Chaiyo Production in collaboration with Apex Toys and a Chinese company named Ruishi Culture Developing. There will be 3 Ultraman in this series: Ultraman Elite, Ultraman Millennium and Dark Ultraman. All are the brainchild of Chaiyo Production and has nothing to do with the Japanese Ultraman. The budget for this series is around 100 million Baht. It will run for 52 episodes in Thailand, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Korea. And currently Chaiyo Production is in negotiation to have the series on air in North America and Europe.

80% of the series is casted in China in great locations like the Kobi Desert and the snow capped mountain in Tibet while 20% will be done in the studio. The famous Chinese movie star "Ekin Cheng" will portray Ultraman Elite, Mathew Dean will portray Ultraman Millennium and Ray McDonald will portray Dark Ultraman. In addition, Chaiyo Production also plans a Ultraman roadshow called "Walk Through Theme Exhibition Ultraman Live Show 4D" around Asia except Japan. It is expected to attract 2 million visitors a year.

Additional information: Two years ago, the Japanese High Court ruled that Chaiyo Production has the copyright of Ultraman in Thailand and worldwide except Japan where the copyright still belongs to Tsuburaya Production. The case for this lawsuit dated back 20 years ago when Tsuburaya almost went bankrupt and borrowed the money of 30 million Baht from Chaiyo Production in exchange for the Ultraman copyright. After the death of Eji Tsuburaya, his son wanted the copyright back and brought the case to court. Both companies fought in court for years until the final ruling.

Inspire Spectreman

The Inspire Spectreman has been released in Japan and The Lost Kaiju will be getting a few in the second week of April. The Inspire Spectreman is around seven inches tall and comes in a window box. This is the First Spectreman figure in over ten years. Inspire is still playing with the idea of making a Dr Gori and Karras/Ra figure possibly. I'll let you know when i find some more details.

CCP Kemura aka Posion Fumes Monster is arriving the second week of April. We will have some in our store and on ebay. Only 500 pieces made, and first appeared on the 1966 tevlevion show Ultraman.
